More than 3,400 small and medium Nigerian enterprises (SMEs) were integrated onto Nigeria’s largest ecommerce platform – Jumia Nigeria in 2016. In addition to this, major international brands like Apple, Reckitt Benckiser, Estee Lauder and sanitary fittings manufacturer, Grohe also became official vendors on Jumia Nigeria in 2016.

As manufacturers and retailers alike continue to champion self-sustaining business processes, Jumia, Nigeria’s largest online retailer gathered 2,000 small and medium enterprise owners form its platform for an interactive conference and awards ceremony tagged the 2017 Jumia Vendor Summit.

The gathering took place at Jumia Nigeria’s corporate offices in Lagos on February 4th 2017.  Discussions revolved around innovative ideas to drive sales and better processes for enhanced customer experience in Nigeria.

Juliet Anammah, CEO Jumia Nigeria emphasized to the SME owners the importance of taking advantage of Jumia’s vendor support system to boost their business sales: “Though the beginning of the year has been tough, the economic recession will not impede sales. There are continuous opportunities for our vendors to tap into specially designed activities that will increase their sales and deliver to our shoppers repeated purchases at very competitive prices.”

The event also marked the launch of the brand new Jumia online vendor forum, and sellers got a preview of the upcoming mega events of 2017, such as Jumia Mobile Week, Jumia Black Friday and TV Mega Blast amongst others.

One of such specialized programs for Jumia sellers is the Top Seller Rewards program. When customers shop on Jumia, they are encouraged to rate the service and quality of products received. That customer feedback translates into a seller score for the vendors. Vendors who consistently maintain a top rating then receive benefits such as low commissions, faster payment terms, invitation to VIP events and more.

The 2017 Vendor Summit climaxed with the recognition of the following vendors for outstanding performance in 2016: AM Store won for Best Operations; Advantage Fashion for Highest Items Sold and Jospas for Best Newcomer (in highest assortment and delivered orders).
