Yesterday was Mario Day, a day when gamers celebrate the beloved Nintendo mascot. Unofficially started by fans, the day has since come to be embraced by Nintendo itself, with the company often using it to promote existing games in the Mario franchise, or teasing new ones in development.
And yesterday was no different as it had shown off what looks like an upcoming collaboration with The LEGO Group. Very little was revealed in the 7-second video, beyond a version of Mario that was rendered in the LEGO art style, and the LEGO and Super Mario logos being shown side by side.
The tease is coming at a time when Nintendo Switch owners are anxious for news about any upcoming games for the hybrid console, in the absence of a full-fledged Nintendo Direct during which such games are usually revealed. But if rumors are anything to go by, then we might be getting a Nintendo Direct sooner than we think, which would be a perfect time for Nintendo to fully take the wraps off its new collaborative project with LEGO.
