4 ways to celebrate Star Wars Day

Author:

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… those were the very words that filled theater screens when the original Star Wars opened in 1977. Since then, those words and the events they foreshadowed have gone on to inspire millions of fans all over the globe. And today, all those fans get to celebrate their love for the franchise in what has come to be known as Star Wars Day.

There are several established ways of celebrating Star Wars Day, from attending conventions to hosting themed parties and marathons. But with the world in the current state that it is in, you can chuck anything that requires any kind of gathering out the window. So to help you decide on safe ways to show your love for Star Wars this May 4th, we’ve honed in on these four activities.

1. Binge the entire Skywalker Saga

Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo from the 1977 film, Star Wars

The Skywalker Saga might have ended with the release of The Rise of Skywalker last December, but that doesn’t mean you can’t pay the galaxy far, far away another visit. You could choose to binge watch all 9 movies, or just skim through your favorite moments from each one, like the throne room scene in Return of the Jedi. The important thing here is to experience what makes these movies so great in the first place.

2. Watch the new Disney+ documentary

Disney Gallery: Star Wars: The Mandalorian

Disney+ launched last November and with it came the premiere of their new show set in the Star Wars universe, The Mandalorian. The show has since grown in popularity through the course of its first season, and endeared fans to the young alien they have since christened Baby Yoda. And for those fans seeking even more time in that particular corner of the galaxy far, far away, Disney+ would be premiering Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian today, an eight-part documentary on the making of the show.

3. Dress up as your favorite character

It’s time to don those old Jedi robes you’ve been saving for a special occasion. Or perhaps you have a greater affinity for the dark side of the Force and would like to dress up as a Sith Lord instead? Wherever your alliances may lie, you can make them known by taking part in some Star Wars-themed cosplay. Just remember to take some cool pictures and to share them with your friends on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

4. Buy some merch

Being Star Wars Day, you are sure to get some deals on all kinds of merchandise, from video games and toys to t-shirts and hoodies. So eagle-eyed fans looking to score some of those deals would do well to keep those eyes open. And speaking of Star Wars merch, you should definitely check out the large number of items we currently have on display on our website.
