Can Liverpool break the Unbeaten Record?

It is no longer news that Liverpool have been dominant this past season and are definitely the winners in waiting for the English Premier League trophy. No other team can boast of such a solid lineup, consisting of a deadly trio of attackers (Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah), and a rock-solid defense made up of Arnold (who by the way has more assists than most midfielders), Robertson, Van Dijk and most recently Gomez. It could be argued that their midfield is their Achilles heel, but even there, Henderson has been outstanding, Wijnaldum has been unbelievable and Fabinho a force to be reckoned with.

After all the teams they have faced without losing (including Manchester City led by Pep Guardiola), is it fair to say they could go the whole season unbeaten? Only Manchester United could take a point from them back in Old Trafford, after both teams had drawn the game. And now there are only eight games left to break the record held by Arsenal’s “Invincibles.” It would be safe to assume they can go ahead to break the record but a note of caution: their final game is against Manchester City. Pep Guardiola will not want to lose twice to Liverpool especially with his expensively assembled squad. One thing is for sure, that final game is going to be explosive.

Invincibles vs Unbearables

But if I was to make a prediction, it would be this: Liverpool will not break the Invincible’s record. They have been lucky up till now and it seems they have everything going for them, but the injuries are beginning to show; when the Champions’ League kicks in, it will further tire out the team, considering they will be facing an Athletico Madrid side that is tough as nails. It would not be long before they lose their first match.

I would like to be proven wrong, but I am sure Liverpool fans would not want to hear this. You know what they say about the truth being bitter. I guess this is one of those pills.

What do you think though? Can Liverpool remain unbeaten for the remainder of the Premiere League? Let us know in the comments section below.
