Cats gets shamed with 9 Razzie nominations

Author:

As the film awards season draws to a close with the Academy Awards tomorrow, the nominees for the 40th Golden Raspberry Awards (or Razzies as they are more commonly known) have been revealed. The ceremony would honor (dishonor?) the worst films that received a wide theatrical release in 2019. Of all the films that were considered, the Tom Hooper-directed musical, Cats, received the most nominations with 9 in total. Its nods include Worst Picture, Worst Director, Worst Actress, Worst Supporting Actress, Worst Supporting Actor, Worst Screenplay and a duo of Worst Screen Combo nominations.

Other notable nominees include A Madea Family Funeral and Rambo: Last Blood, which scored 8 nominations each, and the 2019 reboot of Hellboy, which got 5 nominations. Surprisingly, the award season favorite, Joker, managed to sneak in with a Worst Reckless Disregard for Human Life and Public Property nomination. And on a more positive note, Jennifer Lopez, Eddie Murphy, Keanu Reeves, Adam Sandler and Will Smith all scored nominations for The Razzie Redeemer Award.
