If you’ve spent any significant amount of time on the Jumia website, then chances are you might have ran across one of our many flash sales. These sales tend to popup from time to time, and quite literally too, so eagle-eyed customers are advised to pay close attention to them whenever they do. But you might be there thinking to yourself, “What exactly is this flash sale of a thing sef?”
And I’m glad you asked, since that just happens to be the purpose of this blog post.
As the name implies, a flash sale is a limited-time offer where we feature selected items at heavily discounted prices. These items can range from phones and electronics, to fashion items and even groceries, and they come with one important caveat: the items are available in limited quantities, so it is a game of first come, first served, and fastest fingers first.
No jokes guys, we’ve had some of our most popular flash sales go out of stock in a matter of seconds (I’m looking at you, ever-elusive bag of rice). All of which is understandable when you consider that we sometimes get thousands of customers vying for a chance to buy the same item.
So how can you improve your chances of snagging one of these items you ask?
Well, there are several things you could do to help bring you closer to flash sale glory. You can start by familiarizing yourself with our flash sale calendar, where we detail the exact times and available platforms (e.g app) for any ongoing or forthcoming flash sales. Once you know the exact time and platforms for the flash sale you’re after, it is time to save the date.
If the flash sale is app only, then you’d need to have the Jumia app installed and ready to go in order to participate, as well as make sure you’re on the Jumia app home screen at the designated time.
What do you do if you get there and you don’t see any indication of an ongoing flash sale? Well, don’t panic for starters. We sometimes experience technical issues that cause delays in the time these updates reflect on the various platforms. What you can do though is ensure you are looking at the most recent available update by refreshing your web browser, or closing and reopening the Jumia app if you are already on the app.
Once you spot your flash sale on the website or app home screen, you’d need to:
- Click or tap on it to open the flash sale page.
- Click or tap on the specific item you want to buy.
- Smash that “Add to Cart” button like your life depends on it.
- Hop over to your Cart to “Complete Your Order.”
- Breeze through the checkout pages as fast as you can.
- Click or tap on the “Confirm Order” button to place your order.
Keep in mind that it helps to have a Jumia account created and signed in beforehand, since this is one step you can take out of the checkout process if you do so ahead of time.
If you’d somehow managed to go through all those steps fast enough (and all the stars and planets happen to align), then you would be greeted with a nice “Order Confirmation” message. Congrats.
But if you were too slow and the product goes out of stock before you got to hit that magical “Confirm Order” button, then tough luck my friend and better luck next time. It doesn’t have to be a total bust though; we usually also have other worthwhile items for you to check out on the flash sale page, so you might want to consider one of those instead.
