Football Matches to watch out For This Weekend

Often, football fans are ‘sold’ the idea of a Super weekend because of the exciting fixtures that come along with it. A heavyweight collection of back-to-back fixtures on saturday & Sabbath in which the goals and the controversy will flow. The results will have far-riding and monumental consequences on title ambitions.

This Sunday, it feels almost impossible to over-hype the EPL fixtures, with first versus third and second versus fourth.

Whereas the title race often feels like an inexorable procession towards the final whistle, this season, the competition has been blasted wide open, with a quartet of sides all vying for the ultimate prize in the English game.

After 25 matches, and with 13 to go, unlikely champions-elect Leicester City sit top on 53 points, with Tottenham Hotspur in second on 48 points, level with Arsenal but enjoying a far superior goal difference.

This weekend Arsenal will lock horns with Leicester city and the out come of this fixture would have a far-reaching effects on title ambitions or may very well be decisive game for both teams. The Gunners have won 12 and lost none of the last 18 Premier League matches against the Foxes.

If you’d have said, at the beginning of the season, that the February match-up between Chelsea and Manchester United was not going to be a battle for the championship, or that the Etihad Stadium showdown between Manchester City and Leicester City would be, no one—not even the most optimistic of Foxes fans—would have believed you.

However, as we head into Game week 25, that’s exactly the situation we face.

Elsewhere, Top of the table Napoli visit Turin in a Serie A showdown on Saturday evening. Juventus are on a club-record 14-game winning streak in Serie A and will be favourites to win the title for the fifth consecutive season should they defeat Napoli.

Napoli are on a club-record winning run of their own, having taken maximum points from their last eight league encounters. Their results in this campaign have owed much to the goalscoring prowess of Higuain, who is averaging a goal a game in the league with 24 to his name – a huge 11 clear of Juve’s Paulo Dybala, his closest challenger for the golden boot.
