The Jumia ‘Share Love on Ramadan’ is a Corporate Social Responsibility cause initiated by Jumia Nigeria with the aim to improve the quality of lives of orphans in the Northern region of Nigeria.

For this Ramadan season, Jumia Nigeria decided to spread love once again, as is its culture by catering to the needs of orphans in Northern Nigeria for a more improved quality of life. And because Ramadan is a season of sharing and caring, there was no better time to touch the lives of the generation who will hold the future of this nation. We discovered the Nasarawa Children’s home and put a call through to find out what their needs were. In response to this, a heavily subsidized Ramadan store was created on Jumia for Nigerians to partake in this life-changing experience for the children.

It was a dream come true for the Nasarawa Children’s Home as our dispatch offloaded the many gifts we got for them at their premises on Friday, 17th of July, 2015. The excitement we met was nothing compared to what we envisaged when we decided to make the trip to Kano.

A sum of N 100 was taken from every purchase you made on the Ramadan store during the entire season to fund the purchase of items that were given to the Nasarawa home. It was a tremendous success as hundreds of items were amassed in our warehouse and shipped from Lagos to Kano to finally arrive on Friday morning at the children’s home in Kano with items ranging from a 7.5kg washing machine to clothing items, toys, shoes and many other precious gifts.

“This is surely a dream come true!” Hajia Fatima, head of the Nasarawa Children’s Home exclaimed. She continued “Earlier this year, I said to my members of staff that we needed a washing machine for easier and better laundry for the kids. Little did I know that Jumia Nigeria would fulfill this wish. The kids are extremely delighted to have people from Jumia”

We had a wonderful celebration at the Children’s Home and all kids joyfully participated in all the fun games including the dance and singing competitions with winners going home with prizes for a beautiful Id-ul-Fitr.

We thank each and every one of our customers who purchased items from the Ramadan store to have made it possible for us to share love this Ramadan and remind ourselves of the joy and fulfillment that comes with giving.
