Phone Features / Apps – Genuine value or just Gimmicks

There are a lot of people who belong to the school of thought that phones are supposed to be used primarily for making and receiving phone calls. Consequentially these people would rather stick with their simple phones than go out of their way to purchase a smartphone. It is not that hard to see where they are coming from. These days, phones seem to be loaded (bombarded might just be the more suitable word) with so many apps and features which from the surface usually appear to be unnecessary.

These smartphone cynics might just have been the ones who prompted Apple to come up with their You Are More Powerful Than You Think campaign where they more or less spelt out the usefulness of the apps and features which the iPhone 5S comes with. It was an enlightening campaign which brought to the fore both the apps the public were aware of and those that the public weren’t. A quick view of the video is sure to help clear the air as to if these apps/features are pure gimmicks or if they really and truly benefit us in our day to day lives.

Below are three additional apps/features which are sure to help make your life a bit easier and more convenient:

You can also view and track environmental conditions, and even track your exercise regimen.

The Italian proverb ‘The blind man is no judge of colors’ perhaps best addresses the sentiments held by those who have stuck with their simple phones but yet criticized the importance of modern day phone features. One who has not experienced the convenience of having a camera, music player, hard drive, television, library of books, calculator, game console, watch, alarm clock, laptop and more on one device is not in the best position to judge the usefulness or lack thereof of smartphones.
