Congratulations are in order to five time winner of the Ballon d’Or!
Trust me, it has been a long way coming from being 4 – 1 down to 5- 5 level.
Lionel Messi truly gave the Madrid forward a tough time with consecutive successive victories in the worldwide rivalry of all time.
This new win which crowns Cristiano his fifth title passes one very strong message to everyone on the planet that “hard work beats talent when it does not work hard.”
Many people have their opinions of who should win this title and for all the comments and arguments that have ensued or will continue to ensue, Ronaldo stated his reasons for not wanting to dribble any longer.
Ronaldo made clear his decision saying that Goals help win trophies but dribbling is just for mere sport. This was in an interview while he was still on a goal drought.
His decision to score crucial goals and sacrifice for team glory was what led him to this title. All of you that always criticise Ronaldo for being so proud and egoistic.
Ronaldo was well rested last season so he could perform well. I can remember his popular conversation with Real Madrid Head Coach, Zinedine Zidane.
Many people will forget this in their numerous arguments but I remember him stating in an interview with goal where Zidane asked him:
“Do you want to score more goals or you want to push your team to glory?”
That was what ensued in their argument. Your should know the answer. That was the changing moment for Ronaldo and we saw what happened in the UCL. They say Ronaldo scores against small teams, well every team he has scored against including Arch- Rivals, Barcelona are small then.
Why am I praising Ronaldo? The answer is quite simple. It is his day and for the rest of the year, he will forever he regarded as a five time world best player. If you are not too happy with that, you may have to forgive me.
Hating doesn’t pay. We all know you like Messi.
Judging by the stats of last season, not this season, last season, I will pick Cristiano Ronaldo above Messi.
This is not about skills and dribbles; it is about team victory and hardwork. Ronaldo is hardworking and it worked well for him. I would not deny being a Madrid fan before Ronaldo came in, neither will I deny being a Ronaldo fan as well.
But do we need to still debate this? The guy is the best in the world and it is confirmed.
I don’t know what this new season holds for Ronaldo. I don’t know what trophies Madrid will win or not. But let’s celebrate the Greatest of All Time. The Ballon d’Or winner.
His name is Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro. Don’t cry for Messi or Griezmann or Neymar today. Only smile for Ronaldo. He is the winner of the Ballon d’Or now!
